CBS Writers Mentoring Program

Description

Each participant is teamed with a mentor, a network executive with whom they meet on a regular basis to discuss their work and career. A series of small networking gatherings with various CBS showrunners are scheduled in order to provide a better understanding of the show-making process and to facilitate relationships.

Support Provided

A structured program of career development, support and personal access to executives and the decision-making process to prepare aspiring writers for later employment opportunities in television.

CBS Directing Initiative

Description

The program identifies promising directing candidates and matches them with directors of CBS Television Network drama and comedy series. Aspiring directors of diverse backgrounds with a strong desire to direct on a CBS television series are encouraged to apply. You must be 21 or older to be eligible.

Support Provided

A program of exposure to the process of television directing, career development and access to executives and decision making process. No monetary compensation.

Writers Career Workshops

Description

Intensive workshops that give emerging writers of diverse backgrounds a step-by-step structure for identifying and locating the people who can help their careers.

Support Provided

Instruction is given on how to set meetings, how to prepare for those meetings and how to follow up. Included is a workshop in marketing oneself to others in 60 seconds.

Actors Career Workshops

Description

These workshops are designed to help actors hone the skills they need to get auditions and land roles.

Support Provided

Scene work is critiqued by CBS Casting. Head shots are scrutinized for those qualities that best represent the actor to casting executives. Practical tips and advice are provided by experts in a hands-on approach to give actors the knowledge they need to
